Hanging Plates

Martha Stewart Living, June 2011

With melamine dishes taking the place of china ones, plate hanging moves outdoors.

Tools and Materials

  • Melamine plates
  • Blue painters' tape
  • Plate hangers
  • Hammer or mallet
  • Picture hooks

1. Place each plate facedown on a piece of paper, and trace with a pencil to create templates; cut out.

2. Tape templates to exterior of house, repositioning them until you are pleased with the overall arrangement.

3. Attach 1 plate hanger to the back of each dish.

4. Place plate over template, and mark where the hook will go on the paper. Hammer hook through template; remove paper, and hang plate.
