- 3 pounds apples, peeled, quartered, and cored
- Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
Place apples in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add lemon juice and enough water to cover bottom of pan by 1/2 inch. Cook, covered, until apples are soft and beginning to burst, 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the type of apples. Do not stir. Use immediately, or cool before serving.
