Berry Sauce


Quick and easy, this berry sauce is delicious spooned over vanilla ice cream. From the book "Mad Hungry," by Lucinda Scala Quinn (Artisan Books).

  • 1 8-ounce bag frozen berries
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar (depending on the sweetness of the berries)
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 4-5 grates of lemon zest
  • Vanilla ice cream


  1. Pour the frozen berries into a saucepan over medium heat. Sprinkle the sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest over the berries and stir. Cook the mixture down until it reaches a saucelike consistency. Serve drizzled over ice cream.

    Hi, I would like to pre make this sauce for a dinner party I am catering for - can it be frozen & defrosted to room temp when needed?
