Spiced Rose Lassi

Our sweet version of lassi, a chilled yogurt drink from India, takes its flavor from rose water and cardamom. A healthful refreshment anytime, it is especially nice as a mouth-cooling accompaniment to spicy food.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons rose water, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Rose petals, for garnish

Directions

  1. Place yogurt, water, sugar, rose water, and spices in the jar of a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth and frothy. Serve cold, garnished with rose petals.

    This is one of my favourite beverages. It's light and refreshing. I usually make my own yoghurt and omit the cinnamon, since it overpowers the delicate fragance of the cardamom. I have also tried it it with Kefir and it's equally delicious.
