Braised Leeks

Serve this side dish with pork chops or chicken cutlets.

  • servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 3 leeks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper

Directions

  1. Step 1

    Halve leeks lengthwise (white and light-green parts only); separate layers and rinse well. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium. Add leeks and water; season with coarse salt and ground pepper. Cover and cook at a medium simmer until leeks are very tender (adding more water if necessary), 14 to 16 minutes.

    This is a very good side dish. I enjoy the oniony flavor of leeks, but had always made them with chicken broth, but this one doesn't need it.

    I recommend you try it.
