Emeril's Original Essence


This recipe for Emeril's original essence is courtesy of Emeril Lagasse.

  • Yield: Makes 2/3 cup

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons coarse salt
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme


  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl; stir until well combined. Transfer mixture to an airtight container and store in a cool, dark place.

    Hey MMSRJS you are right, this is real good. I love herbs de provence. so this has to be good.

    My husband made this in large quanity to use in other recipes. Its ever bit as good as "herbs de provence" and "fleur de sel" Try it you might like it!
