Giovanna's Banana Daiquiri

This recipe comes to us from Giovanna Huyke, host of the Puerto Rican television program "La Cocina de Giovanna." Finger bananas have a richer sweetness than larger bananas. A mango, or another fresh tropical fruit, may be used instead of bananas.

  • Yield: Makes 4 six-ounce drinks

Source: Martha Stewart Living, March 1997

  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed (about 3 limes) lime juice
  • 1/2 cup white rum
  • 4 finger bananas, or 2 large bananas, plus 4 slices for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons granular or superfine sugar
  • 2 cups ice cubes

  1. In a blender, combine lime juice, rum, bananas, sugar, and ice. Blend until smooth, pour into glasses, and garnish with a slice of banana.

Wicked cocktail! I found that I needed to add another banana to make it more flavorful and I subbed white rum with Bacardi Coconut Rum...which made this drink beyond awesome.
