Personalized Laundry Bag

Introduction

As virtually any college student can attest, even the smallest space-saving solutions can make a big difference in a dorm room. To help maximize a college-bound student’s living quarters, equip him or her with a handy, personalized laundry bag.

Materials

  • Laundry bag
  • Scissors
  • Suggested Materials: Fabric pencil
  • Iron-on patch
  • Iron
  • Vinyl drafting eraser
  • Utility knife
  • Fabric paint
  • Stamp
  • Heat'n Bond
  • Print fabric
  • Rickrack
  • Varsity letters

Steps

  1. Step 1

To make, create a stencil of the student’s initials. Use a fabric pencil to trace the letter onto an iron-on patch, and fuse it to the laundry bag with a hot iron.

  2. Step 2

Alternately, you can trace the initials backwards onto a large vinyl drafting eraser, then carve around the letters with a utility knife. Brush fabric paint onto the stamp, print it onto the laundry bag, and set with an iron for about 30 seconds.

  3. Step 3

Another idea is to use a fusing agent such as Heat and Bond, which can be fused onto a square of print fabric. Cut the letter out of the fabric, peel the paper backing off, and affix it to the laundry bag using an iron.

  4. Step 4

You can also use rickrack to create initials or purchase varsity letters.
