Ginger Broccoli


Jazz up a mundane plate of broccoli with garlic, ginger, and a squeeze of lemon juice at the end.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 heads broccoli (about 2 pounds), florets separated, stalks trimmed, peeled, and thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
  • 1 piece fresh ginger (1 inch long), peeled and slivered
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • coarse salt and ground pepper


  1. In a large skillet with a lid, heat oil over medium; add broccoli, garlic, and ginger. Cook until broccoli is bright green and ginger is fragrant, about 2 minutes.

  2. Add 1/2 cup water; cover, and cook until broccoli is crisp-tender, 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from heat; add lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper; toss to combine. Serve.
