Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 6 pounds chicken drumettes, patted dry

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together ketchup, sugar, Worcestershire, and vinegar; season with salt and pepper. Set aside 1 cup sauce for tossing raw chicken; use rest for baked chicken.

  2. Preheat oven to 450 degrees, with racks in upper and lower thirds; line two rimmed baking sheets with aluminum foil.

  3. Divide drumettes between baking sheets, and toss with reserved 1 cup sauce.

  4. Bake chicken until opaque throughout, 30 to 35 minutes, rotating sheets and tossing chicken halfway through. Toss baked drumettes with 1/2 cup sauce, and serve with remaining sauce on the side.

Cook's Note

Chicken drumettes are actually part of the chicken wing -- just the right size for kids to nibble on. To store, refrigerate, up to 2 weeks.

Correction: I made 1/3 of the sauce recipe, NOT 1/4.

Great recipe! I made a 1/4 of the sauce and it worked for 2lbs of drums and thighs. Cooked it on a Sil-Pad in a rimmed baking sheet. I didn't have worcestershire sauce, so I used A1 sauce and some Braggs Aminos. Worked great. Absolutely will make again.

Very displeased with outcome. Too Ketchup-y, skin was slimy, wings were greasy. Broiler helped, but I will throw this recipe away.

I substituted hot sauce for half the ketchup and the vinegar, and it was delicious with a kick!

These were great! Even for someone like myself who doesn't usually like barbecue sauce, I also added cayenne to make it spicy which was an excellent addition so that they weren't too sweet

I didn't have drumettes on hand so I just used chicken legs and cooked for a bit longer. These were really good and a real hit with my husband and kids. Very easy to make as well. Excellent.

This recipe is amazing. It is very easy and it taste super yummy. I made it with 6 drum sticks instead of drumettes. It still turned out just as good. I prefer sweet sauces so I added 2 tablespoons of honey to the mixture and it was oh so nice. I recommend this to everyone.

These brown-sugar bbq drumettes were so easy to make! I added 1/2 a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (just for a little zing). I made yukon gold mashed potatoes and sweet corn on the side. My family said it was the best meal
they had that week. Make this! You won't regret it.
