Reptile Diet

Martha Stewart Living Television

If you own a reptile or plan to adopt one, it's important to remember they need lots of phosphorous-free calcium and vitamin D in their diets. Reptiles need calcium to grow, but phosphorous negates its nutritional benefits.

Pet stores carry vitamins made especially for vegetarian reptiles such as iguanas and tortoises. When you prepare your pet's daily salad, be sure to give it a good dusting of one of these supplements.
