  3. Mix Ice Cream, Stout, Dash of Luck

    This Saint Patrick's Day, enjoy a cocktail version of a root beer float: vanilla ice cream topped with Irish stout. With the ice cream sweetening the rich beer, the float is as much a dessert as it is a drink. Scoop ice cream into a pint glass, and pour in enough stout to fill it. One pint of ice cream and one 12-ounce bottle of beer will yield 2 servings.

  4. Simple Easter Display

    To create a great Easter display without a great deal of effort, limit your palette to one spring-inspired color, such as yellow. 

    Dye eggs, and group them in compotes on beds of raffia. Stand flowers in a matching hue nearby (daffodils are shown here). As a final touch, dye bits of raffia and use them to tie the flower stems.

  5. Shamrock Stirrers

    Rinse the pink ink from a heart-shaped rubber stamp, and use it (and a green ink pad) to add shamrocks to napkins, coasters, and more. To make a swizzle stick, stamp a clover pattern onto card stock, and draw a stem with a colored pencil; repeat. Cut out with a 1-inch circle craft punch. Glue circles together, back sides facing, onto a skewer.

  6. Ring of Rolls Christmas Centerpiece

    This centerpiece of pull-apart rolls rises to the occasion. 

    Use your favorite recipe (or try the Parker House Rolls). Roll dough into sixteen 1 1/2-inch balls. Arrange in a ring on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with butter, sprinkle on parsley, rosemary, or thyme; bake as directed. Serve on a cake stand atop a bed of whole herbs.
