Mad Hungry Knife Skills

Mad Hungry

If you're getting ready to chop, slice, or dice your way to a delicious meal, follow some of Lucinda's tips to help you get the job done quickly and safely.

Start by putting a wet towel under a clean cutting board; this will keep the board from moving around, providing a stable surface to cut on. Next, make sure your knife is really sharp -- that makes it much easier to use than a dull knife, since you don't have to struggle to cut through your ingredients.

Finally, the most important piece of advice is to find a knife that's a comfortable fit for your hand; try a few different sizes to see what works best. Lucinda likes to keep three knives in the kitchen at all times: An all-purpose chef's knife gets most of the work done, a paring knife is perfect if you need more control, and a serrated knife is great for cutting bread.

With these basic tools and tips, you'll always be prepared to make a mouthwatering meal, fast.
