  • 10 ounces red seedless grapes (about 2 cups)
  • 3 tablespoons Sauternes
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  1. Cut about half of the grapes in half. Spread all of the grapes in an 8-inch square baking dish. Pour Sauternes and water over grapes, and sprinkle with sugar.

  2. Place dish in freezer until liquid has started to crystallize on the top and at the edges, about 1 hour. Scrape granita with fork tines, transfer to individual glasses, and serve.

Cook's Notes

This quick granita has a slushy consistency. For a coarser texture that's similar to shaved ice, freeze the granita for a total of four hours, scraping it with a fork every thirty minutes.
