Strawberry-Ginger Caipirosca


Each sip of this colorful vodka drink includes bits of fresh strawberry as well as the bracing flavors of mint, lime, and grated ginger.

  • 10 fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 30 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/4 lime, cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups cracked ice
  • 1/2 cup vodka


  1. Place berries, mint, lime, and ginger in a cocktail shaker. Sprinkle sugar over top; muddle mixture with a long spoon until almost pureed. Add ice and vodka; shake well. Divide between two glasses; serve.

    Unlike the previous reviewer, I didn't taste much of the ginger. However, I agree there was a lot of texture to the drink (too much). The only liquid is that produced by the muddling of the berries and the vodka. I would definitely make this again, but I would either muddle until the strawberries were nearly entirely liquid, or blend the solid ingredients in a blender instead of muddling them. I would also add a splash of club soda for fizz.

    Very interesting and dramatic flavor. The ginger was a little radical. There was a lot of solid matter in the drink making it hard to drink, more like a food. I will make it again, maybe cut back on the ginger a bit.
