Baked Camembert with Fresh Fruit

Camembert should be very soft when gently pressed in the center. Baking the cheese in its box makes for an unusual presentation and easy cleanup. Buy only wooden containers, and remove any plastic before baking. If the sides of the box are not stapled together, secure them with kitchen twine.

  • One 8-ounce round Camembert cheese in wooden container
  • 2 apples, cut into wedges
  • 2 pears, cut into wedges
  • Assorted crackers, for serving


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Remove and discard box lid and paper wrapper. Return unwrapped cheese to box; place in oven. Bake until heated through and very soft, about 20 minutes. Place cheese in box on a serving platter, if desired, or scoop out and place on four serving plates. Serve immediately with fruit and crackers.
