The date shake has been one of the iconic symbols of Palm Springs since the 1920s -- make one at home today.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup date puree
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in the jar of a blender; blend until thick and well combined. Serve immediately.

    Yikes Martha! Yours is so full of calories. Here's a date shake that is superior, in terms of taste and health. As for calories, there's a tremendous advantage to this recipe. (I also like it with cardamon.) I use unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze for just 40 calories in a cup. http://www.healthy-gourmet.org/smoothies.html Another plus is that the lactose intolerant can enjoy it since it doe not contain any dairy products.
