Green Mangos with Chili, Salt, and Sugar

Ingredients

  • 3 green mangos, peeled
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coarse salt
  • 6 dried Thai chiles, toasted

Directions

  1. Step 1

    On a work surface, cut mangos into 1/4-inch-thick lengthwise slices. Stack slices and slice lengthwise into 1/4-inch-thick pieces.

  2. Step 2

    In a mortar and pestle, pound chiles until finely ground (an electric spice grinder may also be used). Transfer to a small bowl along with the sugar and salt; stir to combine. Serve mangos dipped in the sugar mixture.
