Marinated Pork Chops

This recipe comes from Michele Hoffnung of Mount Carmel, Connecticut.

  • prep: 10 mins
total time: 1 hour 30 mins
  • servings: 4

  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 center-cut pork chops, well trimmed

  1. Step 1

Preheat the broiler. In a baking dish, stir together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic cloves, honey, and sugar. Put pork chops in the dish, and turn to coat well. Marinate for at least 1 hour at room temperature or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator, turning occasionally.

  2. Step 2

Remove pork chops from the marinade, transfer to a pan, and broil, turning once, until just done, about 15 to 20 minutes.

We've made these pork chops several times and they have always been great. We even cooked them on the outdoor grill when the weather was warmer. The key is to not over cook the chops, so depending on the thickness, you may have to adjust the cooking time. I've been thinking of trying this with chicken as well.

I will definitely make this again. I marinated for about 4 hrs and cooked them on the 2nd rack

I've tried this recipe twice, now. The first time I only marinated the chops for 1 hour and placed them on the middle rack of the oven. They weren't very soft, a little on the hard side. The second time, I marinated for about 16 hours moving it to the bottom rack, they were much more tender and savory. Instant rave reviews from my boyfriend who is my taste tester!
