Martha's Favorite Oatmeal

  • Servings: 2


  • 1/2 cup steel cut oats, preferably McCann's
  • Skim milk, golden raisins, brown sugar, and cooked brown rice (optional)


  1. In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups water to a boil over medium-high heat; stir in oats. When oatmeal begins to thicken, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.

  2. Divide oatmeal between 2 bowls; stir in milk, raisins, brown sugar or brown rice, if desired. Serve.
