Bun Crossing Paste
Make this bun crossing paste as part of John Barricelli's hot cross buns recipe.
- Yield: Makes enough for 2 dozen buns

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup flour (scant)
- Pinch of salt
In a medium bowl, whisk together oil and 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon water. Add flour and salt, and whisk until well combined. Let stand 1 hour before using.
