1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, (spooned and leveled)
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
-
3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
-
3/4 cup granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
2 1/2 cups rolled oats
-
1 1/2 cups raisins
-
1 package (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
-
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
-
Step 2
Add eggs and vanilla; beat until combined, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Add flour mixture; beat until just combined. Add oats, raisins, and chocolate chips; beat until just combined.
-
Step 3
Drop 32 heaping tablespoons of batter, about 1 1/2 inches apart, onto baking sheets. Bake, rotating sheets halfway through, until cookies have spread and are golden brown and soft to the touch, 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on sheets; transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
My Grandmother used to make, what she called, 'Cowboy' cookies. I used Martha's recipe to try and reproduce Grandmother's perfect family cookie. I reduced the oats to two cups, added one cup of walnuts and on top of the cookies I baked chopped maraschino cherries. This is the closest to Grandmother's cookies as I have gotten in ten years, soft in the middle, crispy on the edges and perfectly fluffy. Another excellent recipe from marthastewart.com.
The cookies were delicious! Everyone loved them, and they turned out perfectly. I made no changes to the recipe, though I had to bake them a bit longer.
Really yummy! Moist and chewy. Followed the recipe exactly. Baked for 10 mins at 375.
Have been making this cookie since it first appeared. Has replaced my previous best cookie recipe. No changes. The perfect quick cookie to make and bring and enjoy at home!!
Easy and very yummy. I added 1/2 cup granulated sugar instead of the recommended amount, and only 1/2 cup of raisins and only 1 cup chocolate chips. The cookies was sweet enough. Will make again. :)
I've been making this recipe since it was published - it has to be the family favorite for chocolate chip cookies - so much that I've lost the book a couple of times and have to come here to reprint the recipe. I do add some peanut butter to mine and replace the raisins with walnuts but otherwise it is a keeper in my book and always gets rave reviews. Such a treat :)
This cookie is high fat, high sugar. Are there any low fat, low sugar recipes out there?
yum! the raisins are wonderful in here. could eat the whole batch all by my lonesome...but i'll try to behave :)
I've been making this cookie for years, I have a few changes. Instead of 3/4 brown sugar and white sugar I make it a cup each. Instead of raisins I use dried cranberries. This is my most requested cookie!
these are very chewy and yummy...we love them with dried cherries instead of raisins!
i tried it last week. it's very delicious!
Has anyone tried this recipe? It sounds good. Was thinking about trying this in the weekend.

SallyAF - I have had the same problem more than a couple of times and emailed them to ask about it, but never received a response. I think this is why we sometimes see the same comments over and over.
I've added three comments and they never show up here! Not sure what's happening~!!!
How many carbs per cookie??
Sound delish. I will try these !!!
