Set a fine-mesh sieve over a large pitcher or punch bowl; pour 2 cups bottled pear nectar and 4 cups orange juice (from blood oranges or regular juice oranges) through sieve into pitcher. Before serving, stir in 2 cups chilled club soda and, if desired, 1 cup light rum. Pour into glasses over ice; garnish with orange slices.
This recipie inspired me--I went a slightly different route and used cranberry pomegranate juice and diet gingerale which gives a sweeter taste than club soda--then floated frozen orange slices and a bag of fresh cranberries--everyone loved it!! It was the same color as the picture above and the oranges kept it cold, I also refrigerated the juice and soda before using them.
