Broiled Asparagus

This member of the lily family has been cultivated for more than 2,000 years. Asparagus is at its peak from February through June and is a good source of fiber, folic acid, and potassium.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds asparagus
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper

Directions

  1. Heat broiler. On a baking sheet, toss asparagus with olive oil, salt, and a pinch of pepper. Spread in a single layer.

  2. Broil, turning occasionally, until tender, 8 to 12 minutes.
