Asparagus with Creamy Mustard Sauce


Spring is the season to take full advantage of the subtle, grassy flavors of asparagus and this easy sauce comes together in minutes.

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon white-wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Simply Steamed Asparagus


  1. In a bowl, stir together 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon white-wine vinegar, and 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Drizzle over chilled Steamed Asparagus.

    The sauce needs some heat and some sweet. Try 1/2T hot sauce and 1/2T maple syrup. Adjust to taste.

    Hi I made the Creamy Asparagus Mustard Sauce to go with asparagus and salmon fish cakes. I found the recipe needed to be doubled for this meal. Thanks Barbara

    This is an excellent recipe, very, very tasty. But it is hardly enough for 2 people, let alone for 4! (Oh you Americans: either you eat giant portions or hardly anything at all!)
