Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef brisket (thin first-cut)
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/2 cup freshly brewed black coffee
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Season beef brisket with salt and pepper. In a large Dutch oven over high heat, warm oil. Add brisket, fat side down, and cook until well browned, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Remove from heat.

  2. In a small bowl, combine coffee, ketchup, chili sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and soy sauce. Pour over brisket.

  3. Cover; bake, flipping halfway through, until meat shreds easily with a fork, 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Remove from oven; slice on the bias against the grain. Transfer remaining sauce from Dutch oven to a gravy boat, and serve with brisket.

every time i have made this brisket someone asks for the recipe...it has become our family's staple brisket recipe. this recipe turned my children into "meat-eaters". they now ask for brisket all of the time!

Andeeo, I've tried to find the recipe you recommend, using all the search words I could think of. Would you possibly be willing to post a link to the Braised Brisket recipe that you liked so much? Many thanks.

Is the "braised brisket" recipe the same as the "Brisket of Beef" recipe?
I can't fine a recipe called "Braised Brisket"?

This is good, but my favorite is the Braised Brisket from the April, 2004 Everyday Food (which I seem to misplace and why I am searching here). Thank goodness I found it - as it is very good.)
If it is still in your archive, you really should post it for others to refer to and for me to find when I this book falls apart finally. Thanks
