Let guests' well-wishes take flight on paper doves. These birds are traditional symbols of love, happiness, and harmony.


  • Bare branches
  • Large, sturdy vessel
  • Stones or gravel
  • Wire
  • Nests, available from craft stores
  • Dove cards
  • Dish
  • Pencils


  1. Step 1

    Anchor bare branches (these are manzanita) in a large, sturdy vessel filled with stones or gravel.

  2. Step 2

    Use wire to secure nests, available from craft stores, to branches.

  3. Step 3

    Set dove cards -- available precut -- in a dish.

  4. Step 4

    Place pencils alongside your tree with a sign asking guests to inscribe a card and to place it in a nest.

    I searched for months for pre-cut birds and finally ended up cutting them by hand. But I just found them on

    Also, I added some small squares with family members' names on them to create a family tree, with the groom and I at the top of the tree. It added a very nice touch!
