Homemade Body Scrubs

For a luxurious Handmade Holiday Gift, try fragrant, exfoliating body scrubs. Use the recipes below, or mix in a bit of your favorite scent for an extra-personal touch.

"My Life" Body Scrub
Tools and Materials

  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 cups coarse sea salt
  • 6 tablespoons "My Life" shower cream
  • 3 tablespoons "My Life" body lotion
  • Large bowl
  • Mixing spoon

"My Life" Scrub How-To
1. In a large bowl, add sesame oil to coarse sea salt and mix well. Add shower cream and lotion; mix until incorporated.

Brown Sugar and Oatmeal Body Scrub
Tools and Materials

  • 2 cups loosely packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole oats, ground in a spice grinder
  • 1/2 cup grapeseed oil
  • Zest from one lemon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Large bowl
  • Mixing spoon

Brown Sugar and Oatmeal Scrub How-To
1. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar with oats. Add 1/2 cup grapeseed oil and mix well. Add lemon zest and juice; mix until incorporated.

Body Scrub Packaging
Tools and Materials

  • 16-ounce jars
  • Die-cut border stickers
  • Label template for My Life or Brown Sugar and Oatmeal body scrubs
  • Light-colored paper or lightweight cardstock
  • Xyron Creative Station with laminate/permanent adhesive cartridge
  • Scissors or craft knife

Packaging How-To
1. Pour scrubs into jars. Place die-cut border stickers around outside of each jar.

2. Print label template for My Life or Brown Sugar and Oatmeal body scrub onto paper. Run paper through Xyron Creative Station to laminate and back with permanent adhesive. Cut out labels with scissors or craft knife and adhere to top of jar lid.

    This is a great scrub recipe and I like that you chose a "light" oil such as grapeseed. Olive oil is so heavy and leaves a film on the skin. More beauty posts, please!

    I've only used Vitimin E oil when I've made scrubs and it's readily available at grocery and pharmacies. I've found sea salt in table salt-size containers at the grocers in the spice aisle. hope this helps

    For those that have made this (or a similar recipe), can you substitute either regular White Sugar, Brown Sugar, or regular Table Salt, for the Coarse Sea Salt?

    Additionally, in place of Sesame Oil, can you use Olive Oil?
