Photo Birthday Party Hats

For a personalized take on the classic party hat, make your own with a few especially silly or endearing photos. Don't forget the silver bow on top!

Materials

  • Hat template
  • Legal paper
  • Cutting mat
  • Craft knife
  • Snapshots
  • Clear tape
  • Narrow elastic
  • Stick-on gift bow

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Download hat template and print onto legal paper. Cut out shape.

  2. Step 2

    Enlarge a snapshot, and print it out on legal paper. Trace template onto printout, and cut out.

  3. Step 3

    Slot template tabs together.

  4. Step 4

    Tape ends of an 8-inch length of elastic to sides of hat. Affix a stick-on gift bow to top of hat.

    It seems your crafts are not detailed enough. In this example, how do you orient the photo and what size in order for the hats to look right.

    I really like this idea as you don’t have to be particularly ‘crafty’ to achieve good hat results, and the pictures are a clever touch. As well as being a cool idea for a birthday party, as a school teacher I feel it would also be excellent for a school activity as there are lots of motor skills involved in making them and the photos would act as a talking point for the pupils to discuss those featuring in the photos, families or friends for e
