Let Santa's little helpers make, wear, and share homemade Christmas accessories with these festive craft ideas.
For a playful nod to the traditional Christmas pin, create these cheerful corsages made from a printable holly template, ribbon, and barrettes. Both mothers and daughters can add the sophisticated accessory to their holiday wardrobe.
Wear your Christmas spirit all season long with these charming ponytail holders. Since they are easy to make, kids can string together a dozen or so to give away to friends.
Kids can spruce up their clothes with festive no-sew button covers by cutting felt into tree shapes.
Add swinging, homemade snowballs to a ribbon belt for a Santa-inspired accessory.
Make beautiful Christmas earrings, necklaces, and bracelets with your little one by alternating glass beads and leaves with colorful bells.
Dangle a plum-size beauty from a zipper pull to spread holiday cheer. Help little ones thread a yarn needle with matching yarn, knotting the end. Pass needle through pom-pom then through zipper pull and back down through the pom-pom, leaving a 1-inch loop of yarn (so pom-pom can swing). Repeat twice.
There's likely a wealth of jewel-tone candy baubles around the house this time of year -- why not turn them into a sweet holiday accessory?
Just staple them together to create pretty necklaces. Lay out a design; staple ends of wrappers together. Make sure necklace will fit over your head before adding last staple. For a pendant, staple large piece of candy to the front.
For a homemade heathered pom-pom, work with two colors of yarn at the same time.
For a unique holiday skirt that would have Mrs. Claus's stamp of approval, adorn tiny store-bought pom-poms to a skirt. Mark spacing with pins and stitch pom-poms in place according to skirt's edge, hiding the thread by passing it between the two layers of fabric as you sew. To make your pom-poms perfectly round, trim with curved nail scissors.
Give old Christmas cards more hang time by stringing together cut-out disks. They're shown in garland form here, but can easily be made into a necklace. Use craft punches (or trace a round object and cut out). Attach to heavy thread with stickers; rub with craft stick to secure.
Keep little feet warm and merry this holiday season with a pair of wool slippers adorned with bells, bows, and embroidery.
