Tools and Materials

• Stencil template one and two
• Thick cardstock or acetate/clear transparency paper
• Napkins
• Tea towel(s)
• Iron
• Masking tape
• Fabric paint
• Disposable plate
• Stencil brush (bristled)

Stenciled Napkin and Towel How-To
1. Print stencil design one and two on thick cardstock. Cut out stencil out with a craft knife. (For a stencil that can be saved and used repeatedly, trace the design to a sheet of acetate paper or clear transparency paper with a permanent marker.)

2. Pre-wash napkins and towels and iron out creases. Place stencil on fabric and secure with masking tape.

3. Pour a small amount of fabric paint on a plate. Dab a stencil brush into paint, then dab paint on material with firm tamping movements. Try not to smear the paint around as if with a regular paintbrush, as it will bleed paint under stencil and create a messy design. Tip: Apply several layers of paint on top of each other rather than "globbing" paint on all at once.

4. Gently peel off the stencil. Allow paint to dry. Fix paint with an iron, as directed by paint manufacturer's instructions.
