Perfect for back-to-school show-and-tell, our memorykeeping projects are ideal for completing as a family. Kids can pick and choose the items that are included, while grown-ups can help with tasks such as cutting and printing. So while you may have left the beach behind in August, you can revisit anytime of year.
You can keep vacation memories a little stronger a little longer with vacation memory jars. Filled with souvenirs collected on trips and pictures developed afterward, they are like little worlds that can be visited again and again. Kids can also add to them or rearrange them anytime they like. Bent wire can be used to lower and position objects in a thin-necked jar.
Little artists can be so prolific, creating paintings, drawings, and collages faster than you can figure out what to do with them. Rather than letting the works of art that don't make it onto a refrigerator door gather dust in a closet, devise a system of displaying and storing them.
Let your child save outdoor treasures and craft a fashionable bracelet at the same time with this easy-to-make accessory.
Display your beachcombing finds by filling a picture frame with seashells and showing off their nuances of color and shape.
Children will love crafting this adorable cardboard picture frame.
Make your tote bag one of a kind by embellishing it with a picture of your liking.
A scrapbook can help organize -- and proudly display -- the steady stream of photographs, artwork, awards, and other keepsakes that accrue during a young person's school years. The pages are made from notebook paper (ruled and graph styles) secured to hole-punched card stock using double-sided tape. Years are printed with rubber stamps. Cut-out adhesive labels frame portraits. Embellishments, including a school flag made from card stock and a composition book (made from a reduced color photocopy of a real one), add texture. On the last page, the graduate is awarded a mini diploma -- the crafts store variety.
Kids can use leaf-shaped punches to decorate a family tree, then a matching accordion-fold card bearing their school picture.
