With a howl, a hoot, a squeal -- and an endless supply of treats -- photographer Brooke Jacobs captures the emotions, humor, and expressive sensibilities of our fur-bearing friends. Growing up with a mother who runs an animal shelter and a house full of dogs and cats (and iguanas, and fish...), Brooke combines her two passions, photography and animals, to capture the inner beauty and personality of all creatures, from massive to minuscule.
Pearl, shown here, was rescued by the New York City Feral Cat Initiative and found her permanent home with the photographer in Brooklyn.
