"I want kids to use science to create a better world," Kim says. "Maybe they'll find a cure for cancer or discover a green fuel."
Laura recently lost 73 pounds -- along with some of her biggest fears and doubts. Excited about her journey, Laura began blogging and hosting an online radio show, "Lose Weight with Laura," to help others who struggle with their weight and relationship with food. "I've been in so much pain, and there was so much hopelessness, and I found my way," Laura says. "There are tools to get to that freedom; if I can help one person with freedom, I did my job."
Artist Johanna Parker was born on Halloween but never thought she would have a career centered on this colorful holiday. Without a plan in mind, she left her cushy corporate job and began sketching spooky and whimsical designs. She now creates a series of folk-art-style Halloween decorations such as vintage-looking treat baskets, papier-mache sculptures, and festive party hats, which she sells on her website and through partnerships with other companies.
