Pincushion Gift

These little sand-filled, pin-adorned pillows will make useful valentines for the sewers in your life.

Materials

  • Cotton-weave fabric or linen
  • 1/2-inch sequin pins
  • Fabric marker or iron-on transfer paper
  • Sewing kit

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Use cotton-weave fabric or linen and 1/2-inch sequin pins. Create a pattern with a fabric marker or iron-on transfer paper (or just work freehand).

  2. Step 2

    Machine-stitch two rectangles together, right sides facing, leaving a 1 1/2-inch opening; turn right side out, and fill with sand.

  3. Step 3

    Sew pillow closed by hand, and insert pins.

    Are the sequin pins used as a sewing aid or is it just that they are recommended to be the type of pin to use in the cushion.

    you could also add some lavender to give your cushion a lovely scent each time you use it, handle it
