Pay homage to the last blooms of fall with ever-versatile pumpkins and squashes sculpted into vases. Cut out the tops with a sharp knife, and scoop away the pulp with a spoon; pumpkins, squashes, and gourds will remain watertight for about a week. These flower arrangements include white cosmos and chartreuse lady's mantle, but dried seedpods and grasses also work well.

To make these last longer, simply rub the insides of the gourds with Vaseline, and then insert small glass bud vases.
