Table Trio

Introduction

Three lightweight coffee tables can be clustered and quickly rearranged as needed. Group them close to the sofa, or pull one over to a side chair and leave magazines stacked on another. We made a set by attaching serving trays to wooden stools; look for pieces in similar wood tones or colors, or paint them to match as we did. The cheerful tables relax the straight lines in this modern living room. For simple serving, detach a tray from its stool base and load it up in the kitchen.

Table Trio How-To
1. Choose trays in a color and material that suit your decor. Easy-to-wipe pieces make cleanup a snap.

2. If desired, prime wooden stools, then paint them with semigloss latex to match trays.

3. Evenly space adhesive Velcro squares on the bottoms of the trays and corresponding spots on the stool tops; set trays on stools.

To the Martha Stewart Team: Please PLEASE tell me what color was used on the back wall. It's so beautiful and this is the color I'm choosing for my apartment.

I like this idea. I live in an apartment. People often leave out furniture - most in good form - to be picked up by the garbage men. We find very good furniture including side tables and chest of drawers. If I had my way I would run a business of collecting old furniture, fixing it up and sell it with discount prices.

I like this idea, but I'd make myself a note to remember to use the soft velcro side for the bottom of the tray. I'd hate to snag mine, or someone's clothing!

Love the use of velcro to make these tables more functional when you want to use the trays. Tray ideas: Cut glass to fit the inside perimeter, so you can put pictures or ephemera under the glass. Or, paint on your initials, and take monogramming to a new level!
