April Fools' Day "Spill"

Coffee on the comforter? There's no cause for alarm -- if the mess isn't real.

  • White glue
  • Puff paint
  • Coffee-colored paint
  • Mug
  • Parchment-lined cookie sheet
  • For soda:Clear craft glue
  • Red, blue, and yellow food coloring
  • Cookie sheet
  • Plastic ice cubes

  1. Step 1

Mix 1/4 cup white glue, 2 tablespoons puff paint, and 1 tablespoon coffee-colored paint. Place an old mug on a parchment-lined cookie sheet; drizzle the "spill" in and around mug. When dry to the touch (about 4 days), peel away paper; let dry completely, about 1 more day.

  2. Step 2

To make milk: Omit coffee-colored paint.

  3. Step 3

To make soda: Use 1/4 cup clear craft glue mixed with food coloring -- about 1 drop of red, blue, and yellow. Pour spill directly onto cookie sheet (it will peel off easily), and drop in plastic ice cubes; let dry, as above.

What good is an April fool tip given ON April Fools Day, when it takes 4 days to create it?
I don't think they read this!!

I think the April Fool's joke is on us since we can't use it.

Today is April Fool's Day. This should have been sent out two weeks ago. It takes 4 days to dry. Wha-Wha!

Martha is notorious for giving you tips the day of the holiday! Hopefully a staffer reads the comments.....a couple extra days would actually give us time to use the tip!

couldn't wait for my grand daughter and I to work on this joke for her Mom. After reading the directions, Iguess it will be a april 5th day joke :(

I agree w/ dbutter. Would have been great fun if I had learned how a few days earlier. I will keep for another time, though

This would have been a great idea, had it come about 4 days ago. A little too late for an April Fool's Day joke now.

I did this to a coworker with a paper coffee cup. Worked great! So hilarious!
