  1. Homemade Bath Blend

    Hide

Treat yourself to a restorative soak, or assemble the ingredients for this natural blend to give to friends. Combine 2 cups baking soda, 1 cup Epsom salts, and 2 tablespoons ground ginger. Add to a tub of warm water, and soak for 20 to 30 minutes. For gifts, put the ingredients in cellophane bags; tie with ribbon, and add tags.

  2. Paper Party Bracelet

    Hide

It's hard to believe these glitzy bangles began as humble paper-towel tubes. Prepare for the party by slicing the tubes into rings with a utility knife. Wait until kids are finished decorating before you snip the rings open for wearing -- gluing is easier when they're still intact.

  3. Heart-Shaped Tea Bags

    Hide

Warm someone up by adding a handwritten note to a tea bag. Cut two hearts out of red construction paper using a heart-shaped crafter's hole punch (available at crafts stores). Use a metallic pen to write a short message on one of the hearts. Next, remove a tea-bag tag and, at the end of the string, affix two hearts, back-to-back, using double-sided tape or a stapler. Package bags to give as a present, or steep one in hot water and serve.

  4. Fancy Flowers

    Hide

Looking for an easy, inexpensive way to dress up a gift of flowers? Using scallop scissors, cut several inches off the top of a colored gift bag (available at crafts and party-supply stores). Arrange blooms (we used tulips) inside a low vase with just an inch or so of water in it, and carefully place the vessel inside the bag. (If the bottom of the bag seems flimsy, reinforce it with a piece of cardboard cut to fit.) Inscribe a gift tag with a message, and tie it around the bag with twine in a complementary color.

  5. Cupcake Flags Photo Card

    Hide

Flags tucked into a cupcake can herald any special occasion. Make flags by doubling strips of one-inch-wide paper around wooden skewers; fasten using double-sided tape. Print the picture, and use a stamp to fill in the flags with a message.

  6. Gardening Apron

    Hide

With nothing more than a needle, some thread, a few ribbons, and four buttons, you can revamp an old apron into a convertible one that frees up your hands to cut flowers. The pocket can also be used as a place to stash a pair of gardening gloves.
