Dress up standard summer flip-flops with these whimsical decorations. Cut a 1-by-2-inch rectangle from cardboard. Wrap strands of novelty and colored yarns around rectangle. Slip waxed twine along 1 long side of cardboard, under yarn, and knot to secure. Cut yarn on opposite side. Fluff cut ends of yarn to form a pom-pom, and trim as needed. Repeat to make another pom-pom. To attach the adornments, tie the waxed twine tightly to your flip-flops.

I made a pair of flip flops useing eye lash yarn. Make a knot at one end of flip flops and wrap yarn around till you get to other end of flip flop, make knot and cut. I copyed a pair I bought. Everyone loves them and they are good for all ages. Just match yarn to flip flops. They are easy to make and fast to finish.
I attach these to my luggage. It not only helps me find my bags but also keeps
people from possibly taking mine!
tie the pompoms on hair bands, headbands, shoe laces (at the start of the lacing), key chains, zipper pulls, hoodie string, ski, hat baseball cap, beret, sew or tie them to ribbons for bookmarks, anti door closer (over the top of the door), towel holder (on long ribbon, pompoms on both ends), tie a couple on the car antennae to find it easier in a parking lot, tie or glue it on the end of a favorite pen, on slippers for grandma

I use the pom poms to decorate cloth hanger in my kids closets. I use two per hanger. (It's something my grandmother use to do ) My kids love them.
My girls have been going crazy making these pom poms. Love this idea - any other ideas on what to do with all these pom poms I now have??
Cute idea! Something else that works on flip flops is the glue with glitter in it. Just swirl it along the "straps" of the shoes, wait for it to dry, and voila! sparkly shoes!!
Actually, I thought these were a pretty good idea. Here in the tropics we wear aflip flops all year round and you really can knock yourself out creating all other kinds of things to add on to perk them up a bit. Thanks for this cute craft.
I think tiny/25 cent size 2 toned metalic pom-pom would be cute!
Have seen silk flowers or small charms on East and West Coast since 2005.
I just sprinkled/glued silver rhinestoned on the straps of both my white and also my black pair Reebok flip flops.
wduke2 where is your fun side?
These are so fun for any age. You can even add sequins or glitter. I just bought a bunch of these simple flip flips from Walgreens on sale for 99 cents now I can make them fun. Gotta have fun in your day!!! THANKS!
Finefor little kids but not a great idea for anyone else.
Hi,
You can put the piece of waxed twine (or whatever type of material you choose) across the top of the cardboard before starting to wrap the yarn, this way you don't have to try to get it through the loops at the end. Works great. Thanks, Filomena
