Project

Mini Chocolate Gingerbread Village

What could be sweeter than a village of bite-size houses built from bricks of chocolate-gingerbread cake?

Steps

  1. Step 1

Cut a sheet cake into 75 one-inch squares. Cut 25 of the squares in half diagonally, creating 50 triangles.

  2. Step 2

Place a triangle, cut side down, on top of each remaining square, using a dab of frosting to adhere.

  3. Step 3

Tuck in small pieces of red licorice for chimneys, and dust with confectioners' sugar before arranging on place cards.

I tried my hand at these cute confections using a red velvet cake recipe and they were a hit at my party. The red velvet color makes them look like brick houses. They were delicious and adorable. My friends liked them so much posted a picture on Facebook. Thanks for the idea!
