Any table or countertop used for crafts or sewing projects will be improved by the addition of a measuring tape along the edge, just as you see in fabric stores. Purchase a metal measuring tape backed with peel-off adhesive from a home center, hardware store, or craft shop. Apply tape around the perimeter of the work surface, as shown below, uncovering the adhesive as you go. Snip excess tape with utility scissors.

You can also buy a piece of clear plastic sheet cut to fit your table, then place the measuring tape under it, along the top edge of the table - then you can see it on the top where you are actually cutting. The table is protected from cuts, too. I used paper measuring tapes left over from a trip to that large Scandanavian store, secured with a little double sided tape.
just use double sided tape
You can buy a 120" tape measure at any quilt store. (or probably on line)
You can always purchasea yard stick and either use wood glue or the plastic tape measures and use double sided tape!
Yes great idea but I don't know where to find the tape either.
this is a good idea thanks for all the good tips
OMG! Just like at the fabric store..I'm all over this...where can the tape be purchase? Just so excited!
I would like to know where to find the tape measure. Not at our home store or fabric store.
