Introduction

This handy box keeps ribbon rolls at your fingertips.

Materials

  • Sturdy cardboard container
  • Utility knife

Steps

  1. Step 1

With a utility knife, make a 1/4-inch hole in the center of both short sides of a sturdy cardboard container.

  2. Step 2

Place ribbon spools in box. Cut a 1/4-inch-thick dowel to length of box, and slide through box and spools; press wide thumbtacks into dowel ends.

  3. Step 3

Cut slits for ribbon, and pull ribbon ends through. For a polished look, attach grommets using a grommet kit (available at hardware stores), and label side of box.

You could simply push the tack through the short end of the box into the 1/4" dowel without making the 1/4"[filtered word].

I finally got around to making this out of one of my Louis Vuitton boxes. Such a simple, fun project, and the result is lovely eye candy. I'll post a pic in my crafts space soon, check it out.

I just did this with all of my ribbon and it is great! It really keeps everything in its place and at hand. I do ribbon embroidery so I have over 200 spools of different color/size ribbon. It is now organized by color and size... like a nice little rainbow. Now my craft room doesn''t look like a ribbon bomb went off!

Sherwu, the 1/4-inch-thick dowel that has been cut to match the length of the box slide the spools and holds them upright.

What keeps the ribbons standing up and not falling all over each other?

Neat! Tidy! It will work nicely in my newly organized wrapping paper shelf in my hall closet! Thanks!
