Expiration-Date Reminder

Martha Stewart Living, April 2002

Putting warranty expiration dates on appliance boxes lets you know when it's safe to throw those cartons away. To store the receipt and warranty slips, place them in a cellophane bag. Write or type the expiration date on a self-adhesive label, and affix it to the bag. Attach the bag to the box with double-sided tape.

i use an excel spreadsheet. with a simple function i can track how many days until the warranty expires. You can also scan the receipt and add the picture into the spreadsheet

This is a good idea. I absolutely hate clutter so I usually toss boxes immediately once I know I'm not going to return the item. Now I know not to do that because I have an electronic appliance that stopped working properly and I have no box or anything for it. Good tip!
