Rollout Bins

Organizing Good Things 2005

These store-bought bins, tall enough to hold a pair of boots upright, were outfitted with casters, then placed beneath a simple wall-mounted half bench in an entryway. Available at hardware stores and home centers, casters are practical additions to all types of storage bins and boxes, particularly those with open tops - extra gear can be placed inside, then quickly slid out of sight, so the space looks neat in an instant.

I saw this bin in an article about entryway organization. I don't know what issue it was in. It showed the bench and the shelf above it. Does anyone know which issue?

I don't see Muck or Skrin at Ikea. Container store has something similar called galvanized storage cube but not the same. DOes anyone have that special issue magazine from 2005 that this was published in? Could you look at the source of these bins?

The Ikea website lists the boxes under Skrin. They come with lids for easy stacking and fit the Broder shelving system. Smaller galvanized boxes are also available and listed under Muck. Don't you love that last name? ;-)

When my parents re-did their kitchen, I took a few of the larger drawers and put casters on the bottoms like this. Great underbed storage in my attic/loft for my kids' video games, etc!
