Add whimsy, color, and a hint of summer's bounty to plain white or light-colored kids' clothing and sneakers -- or to a tote bag or note cards for yourself with stamped blueberry patterns.
To make the stamps, carve a small X into one end of each of three different-size corks (available from crafts stores) with a craft knife.
Using corks and a blue fabric stamp pad, print design onto fabric, overlapping large and small circles in a few places (if possible, test a swatch before starting). Cut another cork in half lengthwise; use it and a green fabric stamp pad to create leaves. Iron the fabric to set the ink according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Not only were no instructions given to treat the stamps, making them color fast, there are no instructions regarding pre-washing the fabric. Most fabric is treated at the mill to give it body and shine. That must be removed by washing the fabric and drying it w/o fabric softener. Fabric softener in any of it's forms also coats fabric and keeps it from taking the ink. I read recently that Martha had cut her staff due to financial problems. I hope she started with the one who made this tutorial.
You could use a hair dryer or an embossing heat tool to set the color on the shoes
Use an ink pad labeled especially for fabrics. After the project is dry, iron it to set the color. In the case of shoes, I imagine you could put them in the dryer for awhile to set the colors, but I'm not sure about that...haven't tried it!
I'm surprised this idea doesn't talk about that...it seems incomplete to me without instructions for setting the color.

Hi Lazyboy42, we used VersaCraft ink pads in ultramarine and spring green. Several brands of ink pads can be used on fabric if you follow the manufacturer?
