Flowers and candlelight are nothing new, but together they create tabletop decorations fit for relaxed summer entertaining. Place votive candles in tall glass vessels, and attach a flower (dahlias are shown here) outside each, trimming the stem to fit and tying with raffia that matches the flower. Set each display in a saucer of water to keep the flowers fresh.

Great idea. I also like the idea of using silk flowers if you have no fresh ones available. People who don't like the idea, it is real simple just don't do it.
I used silk flowers to coordinate with bridal shower....looked great!

Did anyone complaining about dead flowers actually try this idea? Worked great for me. I used a slightly deeper saucer, so as to hold - and not spill - a bit more water. Because of small children, I was careful where I placed them. The daisies looked great all evening (and we have LONG parties.)
In real life, this is a lovely, simple, and elegant idea. As shown, the flower blooms and stems will easily last and look great through a party.
As far as "tippability" (my word - patent pending LOL) as long as the table itself is stable, I can't imagine a problem (with well-behaved guests, that is) ;)
This is the worst idea Martha's staff have ever put out. I an sure it looks pretty for a photo shoot, but in real life ......dead flowers.
I love this idea. I think it would be great for a simple table arangement at a wedding.
Sorry.. This just looks like a bad idea for many reasons.. heat from candle, shallow saucer spills, bevel of stem, easy mobility of display.. .. and the overall effect? not so great Hmmm ... I can't believe you published this one..
This is really pritty, you could also use the colored pony tale elastic bands

This would be beautiful on wedding reception tables! We just did my daughter's wedding in June, so weddings are still on my mind!
Perhaps this could be done with the lovely silk flowers that are in all craft stores.

very pretty, simple and modern BUT... please consider how HOT the candles will become, and the glass will also become very hot... thus KILLING and WILTING the flowers.. not sure how long they will look this pretty.

This is a beautiful, simple and elegant idea. One look and I automatically knew where to purchase each small plate, glass cylinder, candle, ribbon and flower! Very nice!
