Project

Bunny Ears

Turn your little one into an Easter bunny with a pair of pink felt ears.

Materials

  • Child-size headband
  • 8-by-16-inch piece of pink felt
  • 6-by-6-inch piece of white felt scissors
  • Pinking or scalloped shears (optional)
  • Hot-glue gun
  • Hot-glue sticks
  • Bunny ears template

Steps

  1. Step 1

Measure the width and length of the top of the headband, add 1/2 inch to all sides, and cut a strip of pink felt to cover.

  2. Step 2

Glue the felt strip onto the top of the headband, wrapping the extra material around the headband's edges.

  3. Step 3

Measure the underside of the headband, and cut a strip of pink felt to fit.

  4. Step 4

Glue the strip to the underside, creating a backing that covers the edges of the top felt.

  5. Step 5

Print out our bunny-ears template, and cut out both shapes.

  6. Step 6

Trace the outer-ear shape onto pink felt twice, and cut along scalloped edge (or cut out with pinking or scalloped shears).

  7. Step 7

Trace the inner-ear shape onto white felt twice, and cut out with regular scissors.

  8. Step 8

Glue each pair of ears together with hot glue, and let dry.

  9. Step 9

Crease each ear vertically down the middle, and press.

  10. Step 10

Fold up the bottom flaps on either side of the notch, and attach to headband with hot glue, pulling notches closed so ears are slightly bent. Hold until glue sets.

I tried doing this with a glue gun, but it was easier for me to do it by sewing everything, except the ears were glued on.

i don't have a hot glue gun :( how could i attach them otherwise, i could sew them up the middle of the pieces to keep them together, but to the band itself... i don't know?
could they attach to a fabric, stretchy headband for little babies?

This was SOOOO easy. I made 15 of them for our Easter Party. The kids loved them and looked so cute running around with them on their ears. Even got a picture of the "bunnies" in the garden.

Excellent idea to use for a spring craft.

Oh I just love this idea, how cute they look! And by making a slightly larger copy of the template if you like you can make a bigger pair of ears for the grown-ups too :) thanks Martha!

Now all I have to do is try to keep the baby from pulling them off!
