Healthy Hair Color

Healthy Home 2008, Spring 2008

Many gradual hair darkeners (such as Grecian Formula) have tested positive for lead acetate. Lead is a known nervous system toxin.

If you must use a gradual darkener, wear gloves, and do not touch bathroom surfaces, so that the lead compound is not inadvertently spread to other parts of the house. It's best to avoid these products; visit for better options.

anyone taking the Henna tip should know that, after a few use's that it has a accumulative coating affect on the hair shaft that can make one's hair vary brittle, coloring your hair is always damaging, unfortunately there is no good "Jetson's" way just yet.

Is it true that Henna does not work on color treated hair?

Try using henna, one place that sells it online is ,henna is natural and leaves hair shiny. Hennas natural color is red. There are places that sell henna with chemicals added to make different shades but, the ones sold at Lush have other natural ingredients added they also sell shades of brown and almost a black color. Note to anyone with gray... the red will be very bright on gray so I would suggest picking a darker color to try and tone down the effect in nessasary.
