Springtime Covers

Give wonderful new purpose to pretty fabric remnants by turning them into blankets for a newborn.

They're super-easy to sew: Pair a lightweight fabric, such as cotton or seersucker, with thin flannel. Cut both into 34-by-45-inch pieces; pin with right sides facing. Machine-sew edges with a 1/2-inch seam allowance, leaving a 3-inch opening. Turn blanket inside out; hand-sew opening closed.

This was SUPER easy! My ten year old daughter just made this in half an hour for a baby shower gift. She added an iron on applique to one corner on each side for extra flair!

This is a very simple project. Take two pieces of fabric and sandwich them right sides together and sew along the edges leaving enough space to pull through the fabric turning right side out. Once pulled through tuck in the opening to line up with the rest then top stitch all around the outside making sure you catch and close the opening.

Could be a little more detailed on the directions, Martha!

A more detailed how-to, perhaps with pictures, would be helpful. Is this intended to be a blankie with a different fabric on either side? Thank you!
